Ballroom Dancing

Since January 2007 we have been learning how to dance. Each term is a level of dance. So after the first year of learning, you are a level three and at the end of the second year you are a level six. Then most of the time, you spend two years as a level six before accessing to the platinum level. After more or less two years there is the golden stars one, and after two years, the golden stars two. From level one to level six, you just automatically climb the level ladder. But then, you access the next level because the teacher said so, because she sees that you are ready for the next level.

Unforunately, as I said before, we only started in January 2007 which means that our first year of dancing lasted two terms and that we did the levels 1 and 2. During the 2007/2008 year, we did the levels 3, 4 and 5. Here is the thing, we are now starting our level 6 but the people that started in September 2006 are also level as they did level 1, 2 and 3 in 2006/2007 and 4, 5, 6 in 2007/2008. So this year, in our course they are people that already have done a term of level 6 and the others that just finished the level 5. Moreover, the number of people has increased more than twice the number we were last year. We hope to have at least as much fun as last year.

On the other hand when it comes to Salsa, it is different. We started last year and did the level 1. We are now in level 2 this year but there is no level 3. So in our course, there are some people that just started their level 2 and the others that just finished their level 2. But as we are doing 1 hour of salsa every monday and that there are not so many people in the course, the differences tended to reduce between the levels and everybody is progressing together.

Last thing to know : as we started the level 6, we won't do any Rock again but dances like Slow Fox that we did last week and which is way to hard to start a year with ... !
