Nice Flight

Back in 2003, summer holidays while we were in Dordogne, a very famous region in the south east of France were you can eat delicious foie gras and other nice stuffs. So, we were visiting the Milandes Castle and they were doing a falconery show. We attend it and it was great. All the bird of prey were very impressive and obedient, and when we saw them flying so closed to the floor and so close to us, it was like they were chasing us !

A Typical Dance

King Kamehameha Day, this was what people were celebrating this day. King Kamehameha was the first man to unify the Hawaiian archipelago. It was his destiny and he managed to do it even when when his opponent tried to kill him as the knew the prophecy and they feared it would come true.

King Kamehameha statue is decorated with huge flowers necklaces. It is so beautiful and it smells so good. In the meantime, they are people who dance the way hawaiin people used to dance and it is very nice and exotic. To conclude this special day, a parade with a lot of people from the other hawaiian island takes place. A great moment to live in Hawai'i.

Céline and I were quite astonished when we saw this kid, dressed like he was waiting for the allies to land on the Normandie beaches. More, we were on place that was strategic and deadly for the allies when the land : the Pointe du Raz. We were able to visit the german bunkers that were destroyed during the assault, the craters du to the bombs are still visible. They are covered with grass, but still, when we saw the depth of the craters and how numerous they were, we figured out that it must have been a hell of a fight, actually, it must have been hell on earth I think.

It was a moving feeling that we had during these days spent in Normandy, with all these memories of the last war in Europe.

As you may not recognize it, this is my feet, my right feet. And if you look carefully, you can see two circular red marks. These are bite marks. It turned out that I was standing on the only rock in a two meters radius, and I assumed that mey be, the fish laid his eggs under the rock. It was imagined and realised in the XVIII century in Alsace by the Neubourg Cistercian Abbey Monks. This gnomonic monument can give simultaneously the time from several parts in the world. Gathering Money

This picture shows you the hard part when you wish to go to Madagascar for a "humanitarian" project. First you have to collect a lot of money which will be mainly used to pay the plane tickets. And to collect money several options can be chosen. Here they choose to sell cambodian meal after church on Sunday noon. Only take-away but also bookings for on week to another. And this option was so lucrative. They did it three times and each time they sold more or less fifty meals (one meal is for two people). A real success.

This is one of the few astronomical clock in Europe. There is one in Strasbourg and another one on this picture taken in Prag. Then let's talk about our busy Saturday. Emilie and Geoffroy, we are sorry that we could not come for your poker party yesterday evening but we were at the theatre. We also got two presents : an ice spoon and a steel champagne bucket. But the real reason why we decided to register our list at 1001 Listes is because they have an agreement with Voyageurs du Monde with who we want to organize our honey moon in New Zealand. So we went to see them to gather some intel about the way it is going to be organized, what they can advise us and we also bought two guide book on New Zealand (a french one and an english one).

The last thing we did before the theater was to go to a grocery shop specialized in high quality food especially sweet food and chocolate in particular. Céline bought a 3kg white chocolate bag and a 1.5 kg praline-flavoured bucket. These two things are made for Céline to cook macarons ... I am a lucky guy !

And after this high organized afternoon, we finally went to the theater with Chloé and Alex. The play, which is a comedy, is called "Effets secondaires" and takes place in the theater of the Comédie de Paris. We had a good time but the play could have been much better as some of the actor were not very good and a bit empty of any feelings. but sometimes it was funny. I also change my perfume. Until yesterday I was using Armany Night, but the bottle was depleted. So we went to Sephora as Céline had a 20% voucher usable until the end of the month. We are now back on track with our dancing courses. We met again our friends Nina and Alexi. We learnt two new variations in rock and did some revisions in tango. We had a lot of fun and some new people joined the course. this is a good point for the group because we need to be at least twelve people during the course so that the teacher keep it on wednesday evening. On the other hand if we are not twelve, the course is canceled and we join the Thursday evening course. And the people attending this course have three more month of courses and they are less fun than our group.

On the other hand we went on Monday evening to our first salsa course. And it was incredible. While we have problems to be twelve on the Wednesday evening, there were thirty people in this first salsa course. And as you can imagine, more women than men which is good for us - the men - because we always dance. On the other hand, the women have to take turn to let those who can not dance participate. And we also hope that after the second and third course less people will be attending the course.

So we went to the bowling and had a great time together. You can see how great players they are on the videos.

On Saturday morning, Piere and I - Pierre is Céline's cousin - went to the ultimate club in La Celle St Cloud to see how it works. There were only to people of the club as the others were attending a tournament somewhere. But we had a lot of fun. They explain to us how to throw the disc, the basis of the game, the fact that you can play ultimate on three different fields : indoor, outdoor (on the grass) and on the beach. We trained a little bit and did a game called "the box". It was so exhausting, and for me, as I had not practised any sports for a long time, it was really hard to catch my breath. But anyway, Pierre and I are going to join the club to train every Saturday morning from 10am to 12am.

Then we had lunch at my parents, we went to St Germain as Céline had an appointment with her bank and we hung around a little bit as it was the "Journée du patrimoine". We want to be taken in pictures in front of all the famous Paris monument like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, etc ... We also wanted to try another time the new Velib' system. Unfortunatly, the fact that everybody is back form holidays and the beginning of the Rugby World Cup is a disaster. We walked during 1h30 to find free bikes but nothing. So we decided to go to the Eiffel Tower by undergound. Magali, Céline's sister took some pictures of us. We hoped that closed to the Eiffel Tower, there would be free bikes, but still nothing. So we walked to Notre-Dame, took some pictures and wished there would be some bikes but nothing.

As a result, we spent three hours looking for bikes that we never had a chance to use. We haven't decided yet in front of which monument we want to be taken in picture next, but what we do know is that we really want to ride some bikes once !

Wedding pictures available

Sophie and Hugues

The pictures of Sophie and Hugues wedding are now available here. A part of them of, a part of what Céline took during the preparation, the ceremony and the coktail and diner.

You can also find three pictures of my new desk at Astrium. I work in a restricted area as my work is based on a military project. And as weird it can be, we work in an open space !

Back From Far

Too soon

Lots of things happend since the last time I wrote something. Indeed, we were on holidays for a week in the south of France.

First we attend Sophie and Hugues wedding in St Martial, a village close to Cognac. It was a great wedding, Céline was in charge of taking pictures of the wedding with three other friends of the bride and the groom. The ceremony was nice, the cocktail was good and the diner was geat. The day after the wedding the brunch was good. But unfortunately, we had to leave a bit early as we were heading toward Toulouse for the next three days.

In Toulouse we stayed at Sandryne and Olivier's place. Olivier is a friend of mine while I was in prep school, and he is one of my best men for my wedding. So we stayed from Sunday until Tuedsay and we had a lot of fun even if Olivier was working. We had great time with both of them, going to the restaurant, meeting freinds of them, playing the chilian pictionnary !!!

And finally, on Tuesday we headed toward our last destination : Meyrueis. A village where Céline's parents bought a house with a wild garden we had to take care a little bit. But we also did some sightseeing, some walk in the nature, we went to canoe, we visited a forecast station and we attend to the Desert Assembly. It is an outside service where between 15 000 and 20 000 Protestant gather together. It is a way to remember the time when the Protestant religion was forbidden and when Protestant people gathered secretly in the mountains for their services. And it was huge to see all these people together, singing together and praying God. A great experience.

After that we drove back to Paris on Monday. This week of holiday was very relaxing for Céline and I. We enjoyed a lot the time spent together. Now were are back to work wich is for me a bit new. Indeed, my mission on the ATV project ended just before my holidays. I am now working for the military people on the french nuclear deterrent force.

I am to put some pictures taken during the weeding but it might take some time. In the meantime, here are those I took with my cell phone.

Last week

Good Bye Guys

This is my last week on the ATV program. Next week Céline and I are on holidays attending a wedding close to Cognac and then staying a day or more in Toulouse before settling in Meyrueis, where Céline's parents have a house. And in the beginning of September, I am to start my new mission, still for EADS, but on a military project.

Anyway, this week end, Céline's parents came back from their trip to Cambodia ! We saw some pictures and they told us about what they did, and regarding what they've done, they really must have enjoyed their trip. Céline and I planned to go there in 2009 so we still have time to save some money and to organize our trip properly, with some help by Céline's parents. They also brought back a lot of presents for us which are very pretty. I may be able to put some pictures here, we will see. The good nexs is that Jumbo went back to where he belongs : Céline's parents apartment ! It is a relief as at the end he was really naughty, eating everything he could, going on the table to eat some stuff we left on it. Every time I went back home, I was wondering what he could have done while he was alone.

We had lunch on Saturday noon at Céline's parents place to share with them what they experienced in Cambodia and to receive our presents. Then we went to "La Fete des Loges" which is a funfair, taking place in the St Germain en Laye forest. It became famous this summer for a tragic reason : two pepole died in a fairground attraction a couple of weeks ago. It was the first time for Céline in a funfair. We went there just to feel the atmosphere and not to go in any fairground attraction, besides, we did not have any cash.

The end of the day was relaxing and Céline's parents came for dessert. We spoke a little bit about about what we've done while they were in Cambodia, about Jumbo's attitude and of course, I watched the rugby game with Bunhai, Céline's father.

Sunday was a dark day for me. First Céline was on duty so I was alone at home. But the worst is that my computer crashed. After an automatic windows update and a reboot, my computer was unable to reboot. I tried to repair Windows, I called my brother to get help, but it was useless. I had to save all I could before reinstalling Windows. As a result I spet the all day setting my computer, reinstalling all the software I was using, recovering the data I saved. It was horrible, the worst Sunday I ever had. But I did enjoyed the diner I had with Céline, in her room in the hospital where she was on duty. It was great, and the small time I had with her made me feel better and happy.

I now have a brand new computer and still some software to set.

Back From a Long Week End in Normandy

In Varaville

It was so great to go far from Paris, to breathe fresh air and to do whatever you want to. We went to Varaville, next to Cabourg in Normandy, where Céline's Uncle has a house. It is a two hours drive from Paris, so you can get there very fast. On the one hand, it is finished. We now have to get back to work. But on the other hand, we are to be on holidays in ten days so it is not so hard to undergo.

On Saturday, we went to Caen to visit the city and its castle. And on our way back to Varaville we stop by Ouistreham, a nice village with a very nice and wide beach.

On Sunday we went to the D-Day landing beaches and the pointe du Hoc. The place is very impressive as you still have the German bunkers, you can see the holes done by the bombings ... After that we visited the Omaha Memorial which is very moving. you can see a lot of personal stuffs such as letters written during the war, a lot of pictures taken during the D-Day, helmets, uniforms, ammunitions, bombs etc ... There is also a film which is broadcasted during which two people are talking about the D-Day and what they went trough during this special day of human history. It is very hard to prevent tears from sliding along your face. It was a very moving day. We moved on to Arromanches and its famous artificial harbor used by the allies to empty the war ships during the D-Day.

And on Monday we visited the amazing village of Honfleur which is so nice. A small harbor in the middle of the village, with restaurants and shops all around. We had a great time there and bought some cider. After that we went to Trouville and Deauville. I was disappointed by these two cities, especially Deauville. At first sight you know that only very rich people can afford the way of life there. The city has no atmosphere. On the other hand, the beach is nice, very big and wide. The big problem is that it took us fourty five minutes to cover the last kilometer to get into Deauvile, and it took us an hour to cover the first kilometer to leave Deauville : a real mess by car. And after this hard experience, we went back to Cabourg to finish our day. We walked in the village, bought a lots of madeleines and some sardines and mackerel. After the shopping, we had a pizza on the beach.

On Tuesday, we packed and left just before lunch so that we had time in the afternoon to get ready for the next day which was my birthday. We organized a barbecue at my parents house with a small number of friends. (those who were not on holidays) The food was great, we spoke a lot, we played poker. We had fun, but unfortunately, the weather was not the kind you expect in the middle of August!

To finish this post, I offer you another round of photos of Jumbo sleeping on my computer adaptor. And the few pictures we took during our last picnic.

Unforgettable !

5 Years !

How amazing these last three days were ! We celebrated our five years together and we did great !

It started on Friday evening. We went to see a comic play called "Venise sous la neige" and we laughed so much. Céline is more severe when it comes to joke and sense of humor, she is hard to entertain. But I knew that this kind of play we delight her, and it did. After that we had diner in a small pizzeria which was very good and cheep comparing to the others in the neighborhood. We finally went to bed very exhausted.

We had a lie-in on Saturday morning but not too long as we were supposed to pick Céline's brother to drive him to the airport. He was living for La Réunion to meet a friend of his. Right after that we went straight to Paris to enjoy the hot and warm weather. And we decided to try the new Velib' Paris thing. I explain for the non French people : throughout Paris, you find terminals where you can borrow bikes. It costs 1€ to subscribe, and then it is free the first thirty minutes and then it is 1€ more for each next thirty minutes. So if you ride ten time less than thirty minutes, you would only pay 1€. Céline found in love with this new way of transport in Paris. She is right, it is much more better than the underground. On the other hand, sometimes it is hard to find terminals with bikes available or to find terminals with free place to give the bikes back. But I can tell you that it is the best idea they ever had in Paris. We also went to Paris Plages. It was completely overcrowded : no more place on the beach nor on the grass. The only good stuffs were the atomizers and the showers. After that we took the Velib' to go back to our car and went home.

Sunday morning was dedicated to groceries for the brunch. It was an "American" brunch with pancakes, milk shakes, sandwiches, fruit juices, toffles (thx Claire for the recipe). There was plenty of food and we did enjoy a lot chatting while brunching. As our friends are getting married in several days, they had to leave early as they still had some stuffs to take care of. We had the rest of the afternoon to tidy our apartment and to prepare our picnic diner. We made hamburgers and went to the St Cucufa forest closed to Céline's parents apartment. It was great as the weather was still warm even in the forest. We knew that today's weather would be ugly so we decided to enjoy as much as we could the nice week end weather.

We spent three awesome days for our anniversary and it makes us feel like doing it more often during our week ends. We hope that all of you guys enjoyed this nice weather. See you ...

Big Day

I'm so excited

Tomorrow is Céline and I anniversary. Five years, we are now together since five years. As you can imagine we had our bad and good moments, but so few bad moments and so many many many good moments together. Since the beginning of 2007, we kind of started a new relationship were communication has a bigger role to play than before. We are also preparing our wedding everyday as we keep on thinking of what could be improved, done or avoided.

For this big date, Céline and I planned romantic stuffs for both of us. And we are starting this evening with a theater comic play in Paris and a small Italian restaurant after the play. I do not know what we are to do tomorrow afternoon, Céline is in charge. I only know where we are to have diner. Of course I will not say anything before it happens, so you will have to wait until Monday to know if we enjoyed this week end and where it is worth going.

Sunday is to be more relaxing. We are receiving friends for a brunch. We have a lot of cooking ideas and we hope that we manage to cook well. In the meantime, we wish you a very nice week end and hope that you will have fun as much as we expect.

Great Week End !

With Jumbo

We had a really great week end.

We were receiving some friends and we had so much fun. Everybody was telling stories about their jobs and people they worked with, almost everybody had a chance to fly a PicooZ and we watch some old pictures of Céline and I.

And on Sunday evening we had diner at my parents'. It was also great. The food was good, we talked a lot and everybody liked Jumbo and played with him, especially my father who loves dog.

It is now a bit hard to go back to work, but the good point is that according to the weatherforecast, the next fifteen days should be summer days. We are all looking forward to it !

And finally, I'd like to start this week end by showing you how weird Jumbo is. Just look at his favorite sleeping place : it is not as you may think his basket. He prefers to sleep on my computer adaptator.

Here We Go !

Almost Engaged !

I have a bad and a good news. Of course I start with the bad news.

Our dance revisions courses are over. It is so sad. We have now to wait until beginning of September to resume our dance courses with personal course to prepare our wedding. We are also to start Salsa courses which means that on Mondays and Wednesdays we have our regular dance courses and once every two weeks we have our personal courses for the wedding ... it is going to be a dancing year !

The good news is that, this morning at 9 am, Céline and I got PACSed. The "ceremony" was really quick, like a civil wedding for example, and the clerk was really nice to us. We are very proud of this engagement one to each other. We now have to wait a year before getting married.

Hope that those who are on holidays are enjoying and those who are not are also enjoying ! C u people !

Enjoy ...

What can I say as since yesterday not a lot of interesting things happened.

Happy Birthday Valentine. I know you do not have internet right now so you can not see this post but anyway, it will allow other people who forgot it was your birthday today to think about you.

I hope that you are having fun in your scout camp and that they prepared you a nice holiday celebration with all your friends there.

By the way, Céline's family arrived well in Cambodia Sunday morning. (Paris time) We hope to be able to give you some news regularly.

Good Week End & Happy Birthday Célia

In Paris

First, I d'like to wish a very happy birthday to Célia, who is in Canada for her thesis. I hope that for you everything is going as you expected and that you are to enjoy this special day. Take care of you.

This last week end was a bit short as Céline was working on Saturday morning and from Sunday morning until this afternoon. As a result we did not have much time together. So we decided to enjoy as much as we can our Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately we had to do some groceries for the week. But then we went to Paris, in the fifth district of Paris as it is one of the greatest in Paris.

We did some shopping before the shops closed, Céline bought a nice denim skirt, really sexy, and I bought a tight shirt on Céline's advice as she find me really sexy when I wear it !

And we finished this wonderful time together by eating in the La Brouette restaurant. We decided to go there as we red nice comments put on the internet by former customers. We had a delighted and copious diner, the waiters were gentle and polite. So if you want to spend quality time with friends or with your lover, you can definitly go there. And it is cheap.

My Sunday was more in the cleaning way. As Céline was not here, I took care of Jumbo first, and then I cleaned the kitchen and the living room. But I had a nice evening as I saw Christine and Etienne my former scout chief when I was a child (from 11 to 18 years old). It was great as we did not see each other since 2 years. We talked a lot and we had a great time.

Now We Are Three

Welcome to Jumbo

Céline parents are leaving for Cambodia for a month. As a result, we are to look after Jumbo, their dog, while they are on holidays. We hope that he is going to be quite during the next 30 days. As you can imagine, if you are to come to our place, you will see him, and may be walk him ... no just kidding.

Anyway, Tuesday evening we were in Paris, close to the Champs Elysées, in the Grand Palais, to attend to a ballet. A Cuban troupe was playing the famous Gisèle ballet. It was new for me, my first ballet after my fist opera in Prague. I can not say that I really enjoyed it, I do not know anything about classical dance. But I took a couple of pictures of the Grand Palais glass roof and it is very impressive. The quality of the photos is not excellent as I took them with my cell phone, as well as the videos. (Quicklime plug in and double click to launch the video)

On the other hand I recovered several pictures taken during Emilie & Geoffroy's wedding. It is mainly Céline, but it is still memories. And a couple of pictures I took when we were on the top of the Galeries Lafayette terrace.

Hot Bastille Day

Warm Summer

The summer has finally arrived. Everybody was so desperately waiting for it. The weather was so cold and sad. But since Friday, the sun is back and the temperatures are reaching a summer level.

It is in these conditions that French people celebrated the Bastille Day. Céline and I wanted to go to Paris to see the fireworks. We had diner in the Thing Thing and then we drove to the Eiffel Tower. But there was to many people in the streets. People were parking their cars on the bridge to see the fireworks. It was such a mess !

But for what we saw of the fireworks, we were a bit disappointed. It was not very high in the sky, so not very seeable from far away. Sunday was very relaxing. Céline and I did not have anything planned. We just tried not to melt because of the heat outside. It was a long time we did not have a nothing-to-do Sunday and we really appreciated it.

We hope that you had fun during this week end and good luck for the starting week.

Tough Week End

best Rings Ever !

What bad days Mondays are ! Coming back to work when most of French people are on holidays. The only positive, positive can be a challenging adjective, but anyway ... The only positive aspect is that the weather is a real mess, so that nobody is disappointed not to be able to enjoy a sunny and warm weather like we use to have during summers.

Enough complaints, let me talk about Céline and I week end. First we spent a lot of money, then we had a very nice evening and on Sunday we spent again a lot of money. This is a nice summary.

More in details, on Saturday afternoon we were in Paris to buy our wedding rings. We went in a small jeweler on the La Fayette avenue. They had a huge choices of ring in yellow gold, white gold, platinum, white gold and platinum, etc ... We went there because we knew that we would be able to get a price reduction on the rings, which was indeed the case. After a hard phase of choosing which one would the best to embody our love, we finally found one. And with the 40%-off reduction, it is as if we had bought one and get the other one for free. We are to received them in October. Then, on our way back to the train station, we decided to stop by some shops to see how interesting the sales could be. And it turned out that I bought two nice suits for a very reasonable price. Céline, on her side, bought a pair of shoes she already has but in a different color.

On Saturday evening, we were receiving some friends and family : Claire and Johan on one side and Nolwenn and Jérémy on the other side. The first couple is a friend of mine, whereas Jérémy is my cousin and Nolwenn his girlfriend. And we had a wonderful evening, we talked a lot about everything, the meal was excellent, Claire made a delicious desert and Johan and Jérémy played a lot with the PicooZ choppers. It was a great diner.

Finally, on Sunday we went to the place we are to celebrate our wedding to show our families. It allowed Céline and I to start organizing were to want to put the diner, the dancing room etc ... We also took a lot of pictures which are not going to be available as we want everybody to discover the place the same day at the same time.

This week end was great, Céline and I had a great time together and with our friends. And the wedding organization is growing into our mind which is exciting.

Happy Together

We got engaged, we are getting married and at the end of the month on Thursday, June 26th we are getting PACSed. It was something we had been thinking of a long time ago which was a bit evicted by all the wedding thing. But we left our PACS file in the Saint Germain county court last week and we got an appointment for July 26th. We might do something to celebrate this event but we still do not have talked about it.

Anyway, we are still decorating our apartment, especially the living room. This is why yesterday we bought two armchairs, the famous Poäng Ikea armchairs. We also put the sticker Céline bought several days ago, one like you can see in the French broadcast D&CO. Otherwise, we are still wondering if we are to hang the three parts world map I bought last year. But we are reaching the end of the decoration which is a good part as we are now able to invite all our friends and family. Besides, we are expecting friends this Saturday evening for a nice and flavorful diner.

Congrats Emilie & Geoffroy

Happy Birthday Maxime

Last week end was very busy for Céline and I. We went to La Baule for Emilie and Geoffroy's wedding. 800km in two days worthed it as they are really good friends.

Anyway, everything was great : the religious ceremony, the cocktail and then the diner and the party. Unfortunately, the next day we could not stay very long for the paint ball game as we needed to drive back home not too late. But we had a great time, the meal was excellent, we also had the opportunity to dance and to put what we learnt into practice. Again CONGRATULATIONS both of you for the wedding.

But because of this wedding I totally forgot to wish a happy birthday to Maxime. It is unforgettable but I try make myself forgiven now as I wish a very nice and lovely happy birthday Maxime. And I also hope to see you soon my friend.

As I did not write since a long time I have several uninteresting stuffs to tell. First, Céline and I bought a nice and big A3+ printer to print nice and big photos of out friends and us. Céline bought the Canon 400D and I bought the Samsung SGH U600. We really love the sales period !!

Do not expect any photos from Emilie and Geoffroy's wedding : I forgot my digital camera, so we did not take any pictures. But thanks to this wedding we are know deeply thinking of what Céline and I want for our wedding, the way things are going to happen, the sequence of the events during the cocktail and the diner ... and it is going to be a hell of a wedding.

Happy Birthday Claire

Enjoy !

Did everyone recover from la fete de la musique ? Did anyone participate in this celebration ? I did not.

But this is not really what I wanted to talk about. Today is a special day for Claire as it is her birthday. So Céline and I are wishing a nice and lovely happy birthday Claire. We hope that Johan is going to spoil you like he never did and that you will spend a nice and romantic evening. We also hope that your new job suits you well and that you are happy of it.

What follows has nothing to do with my previous words but I'd like to share with you : Wednesday was our last dance lesson, sniff ! We have now a one-week-break before stating the revisions on what we did all year long.

But we finished with a one hour tango lesson and it was great ! We learned three new variations which are : promenade ouverte, outside swivel and back cortet. It is a really really nice fluid sequence of movements but we still have problems to do it in a normal speed. But I can assure you that it is totally awesome.

We may be able to show this nice enchainement during Geoffroy's wedding ... if there is any tango music. If not, we hope that they will broadcast some rock music in order to train a little bit our rock movements. And since we may have our new dance shoes, it is going to be a hell of a dance !!!

I know he does not like this kind of celebrations but I also know that he is not likely to come on this website. But even if he came, I know that he better understands German than English so ... But anyway, if despite all these bad preconceived idea I have about him, it turned out that he came to see my web site, I will be delighted.

And in case you are wondering, I am not going to tell his age despite his youth mind.

Happy birthday again Grand Papa ...

Back to square one

So Angry !

A good news always comes with a bad news.

This week end, we received a call from Hélène, the woman who is in charge of the Hargeville Castle management. She recommended us to look for a new place to celebrate out weeding. You can not imagine how depressed we were when she told us that.

We thought that we had found the right place to celebrate our wedding but it turned out that the owner wants to do big works on his property which may lasts over a year. It is such a big mess that Hélène is about to hand her resignation.

As a result, we are now back to square one, looking for the perfect place to welcome the celebration of our wedding, giving calls, sending emails, planning visits such as this evening and on Wednesday evening.

But if we do not find anything good enough before the end of the week, we will have to use our B plan.

Céline and I are getting married in one year to the day. We hope the civil wedding will take place on June,6th 2008 in Bougival city hall whereas the religious wedding will take place on June,7th 2008.

We got engaged one month and a half ago. And you can find the pictures related to this event here.

Regarding Prague pictures, I give up. I cannot do what I want because it is to hard to realize. As a result, the presentation of the pictures is quite usual. But I still have some documents to scan and put on the website, like a map of Prague, the Opera tickets, etc ...

Big step for Valentine

Congrats'

This Sunday, we celebrated Valentine's confirmation. The ceremony started at 10.30 am in Marly le Roi Church. Then we had lunch at my parents home : some relatives were here like my mother's brothers and father, my father's mother and cousin and some of Valentine's friends.

Céline and I spent a very nice afternoon with a sunny and warm weather. Valentine was really spoiled by her friends, parents, godmother and godfather. She had a lot of presents especially several jewels and she was very happy of it ! I hope I recover several photos taken during the afternoon to put them on the website.

Regarding our apartment, we finally started the last stage of paint in our living room. We moved the furniture, covered the wall-to-wall carpet and put the first layer of underlying layer. We are now waiting for it to dry before putting a second layer. Then we will put two more layer of yellow pale paint with a wide strip or red.

And finally, we recovered our nice table. We are now properly equipped to welcome our friends for diner. First because now we can eat on only one table, and then to show them what out apartment now looks like. Comparing to what it was with orange wallpaper, it is now much more nicer and wider.

Back from Prag

So Nice !

We are now back from a five-day-trip to Prague. We had a great time especially because the weather was wonderful. (comparing to what it is like now in Paris !!) The picture are not yet available as I really want to do something nice with it.

Anyway, we did a lot of things such as visiting Prague Castle, going to a classical music concert in a church, to a jazz concert and to the "Manon Lescaut" Opera. We also walk a lot in Prague to visit the old city, to rest in the park and many other things.

We also resume our painting in our living room as you can see on the following pictures. A big part of the living room is now almost finished. We have now to clean this part of the living room before painting the rest of the walls which are still a bit dirty.

Nuit blanche au musée

Vive la culture

It was a very nice evening. We were five : Edith, Anne, Emeric, Céline and I. Sophie, a friend of Céline, was supposed to come but we could reach her to arrange an appointment.

Our action plan was to start with the Orangerie, then to go to Orsay Museum and then to the Invalides. So at 5.30pm we were supposed to queue at the Orangerie, which was the case. The opening was at 6pm so we did not wait a lot to get in. Once in, we started with Monet's Nympheas, and then did the rest of the exposition. It took us only an hour to go through the entire museum, which disappointed us a little bit, especially because it is small.

Then we headed towards Orsay Museum. Here again we had to queue but only for a short time. This was the main event of the evening. We stayed almost 2h30 in this former train station which make the museum hudge. We started with the paintings. And around 7.30pm we decided to have diner on the terrace. The view on north Paris was wonderful. We had a great time having diner over there. And after the break, we resume our visit. We went through the paintings, some furniture and finished we the sculptures. The end was a bit boring 'cause we are not really into sculptures. It was time to leave.

After a 20 minutes walk, we arrived at the Invalides. And surprisingly, no queue to enter. We went straight to the 3D maps museum. A dark, dusty museum which presents several maps in 3D which was used by French people to make war. These maps are a 1/100e representation of the famous Vauban architecture of rampart in star shape. After that we looked for Napoleon's tomb and once we found it we had to face an unorganized crowd queuing to see the tomb. We even heard a guy saying that it may take 3h to reach the tomb. No way we are doing this. So we sat on the steps, getting some rest wondering what we could do now.

At 10.30pm, we decided to walk towards the Champs Elysées to end nicely our evening. It took us like 30 minutes to reach the suburb station located at the top of the avenue. We finally got home at 00.15am and went straight to bed.

It was a very interesting and cultural evening, and once per year is not to hard to deal with. The hardest, is to wake up the day after. Because we are supposed to have lunch with some of Céline's friends at 1pm. We are also supposed to do some painting once we are back home, and more important, we have to pack up because we are leaving for Prague tomorrow morning !!! It is going to be a speedy Sunday !

Lots of changes

Finally !!!!

There are two things that just happened : first, we started to put the first layer on our walls. Not all of them because a couple of them are quite hard to reach. The living room looks like a mess by the way and it is quite depressing to live in such a room. Fortunately, we know it is temporary.

Entry side Computer side Back side Back side

But on the other hand, we went to look for our nice furniture. Not the table, which will be available next week end. We bought a nice and big deep brown sideboard. We have now enough lace to put our clothes. It is a big step for Céline and I, and a huge step for our comfort !

Céline was on duty today, so I am not going to see her again before tomorrow evening. Since yesterday we started to do home work in our living room. We got rid off the nasty thick orange wallpaper pretty easily. We also started the hard part which is first to clean the walls from the former wallpaper glue, then to fill the holes in the wall and finally to sand down a little bit.

I also took some breaks watching US series. Working alone is not really exciting so I try to treat myself gently. Hopefully, we will do much more progress during this short week by working together.

New Furniture

What a bad idea we had to come back to Le Faillitaire. This shop sells furniture at a good prices comparing to what they are usually sold. A price cut which can reach almost 50%.

Céline heard about this shop chain on the radio. So when she saw it on Sunday, she was delighted that we might be able to find an occasionnal table for our living room. We were leaving Terra Nova when she had this great idea: Let's go to the faillitaire ! I said why not. Fortunately, they did not have much of a choice for occasionnal table, at least regarding our wishes. But we found nice tables, and it is when Céline asked for information that things got out of control. She wanted to know if this quite nice 130cm deep brown tek table had any extra leaf.

At this, when we were looking each other in the eyes we knew we were going to buy this table. By the way, the table has an extra leaf which is integrated in the table itself. So no need to find a place to store it. On the other, it is the only extra leaf for this table.
